Document Authentication

Document authentication is the process of verifying the authenticity and integrity of an official document. It analyses physical and digital security features to determine whether a document is genuine or counterfeit.

Document authentication is a critical step in KYC procedures and the fight against document fraud. It aims to confirm that an identity document, proof of address, or any other official document has not been falsified, counterfeited, or tampered with. Modern technologies enable this verification to be carried out automatically from a simple photograph or scan of the document.

The elements analysed include visual security features (holograms, watermarks, UV-reactive inks, microtext), typographic and structural consistency of the document, validity of the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) format for travel documents, and the presence of signs of digital manipulation (retouching, splicing, pixel modifications).

Advanced authentication solutions use reference databases covering thousands of document types from around the world. Artificial intelligence can detect anomalies invisible to the naked eye and achieve document fraud detection rates above 95%, while maintaining a low false positive rate.
